Bolt Maintenance on Barbarous 65M

Howdy Guys,

I've simply inherited an former Savage Model 65M from my grandfather. The rifle is in expert condition merely the bolt is a flake sticky. My only gripe is the bolt is non remove able without removing the action from the stock.

Does anyone accept any idea for how to grease upwardly the bolt without removing the action?

Yeah owners transmission would exist practiced, a brass brush, or rag wouldn't hurt behind the bolt lugs ( go easy with brass castor ) if theres a gunk build up, and then a smidge of oil on the bolt body, if that doesn't work then somethings going on, get someone with some experience to look at your contumely

The model 64 is listed as a Semi Auto, I'yard hoping gramps had the proper paperwork or at to the lowest degree you practice if this is the case. A few pics of the action would help to identify exactly which rifle information technology is cause if information technology's a semi and you lot don't have the right paperwork you could finish upward in a world of injure with the Law.

Manual can be constitute here

My mistake, Model 65M.

I've contacted Savage but they don't accept any to supply. Possibly a trip to a gunsmith may be in order

I'k not familiar with the 65M but is that big of a deal to remove the action from the stock once to give the bolt a refresh?

From a Google picture looks like it'south but a few lug screws.

Once it'south washed y'all should be able to clean/oil the bolt on an ongoing basis while it's still in the activeness for a good while between removing it for a service.

Reach out and touch...
